The "injustice" system....

So I recently read an article on this kid from Douglasville, Ga. In 2005, he was convicted of aggravated child molestation because of his part in a consensual oral sex act. He was 17 and the girl was 15. Georgia law says it is a felony for underage minors to have oral sex. Are you kidding me?! Oral sex is one of the greatest pleasures known to men (specifically)!! But get this, within the same laws, it is only a misdemeanor for those same kids to have sex. Everyone knows that this law is outdated, but the prosecutor on this case, one Eddie Barker, refused to take into account the fact that these kids were just being kids. Every teenager has experiences with sex, whether it is oral or not. Let me tell you this, everyone involved in this case knows that the ruling is insane. They dropped all the other charges against him, one of which was a charge on rape. The girl involved knows its B.S., the prosecutor knows its B.S., hell, even the jury knows its B.S. Rules are rules, though......again, B.S. (The reason I use B.S. is because I don't know if it would be okay for me to curse on this blog). Anyways, the point has been made. Our justice system, specifically Georiga, needs to get their shit in order. This kid, who is now 20 yrs old, will be spending 8 more years in prison without the possibility of parole. It will be 10 yrs in total that he will have to spend in prison. Through appeals and his pro bono attorney, Ms. BJ Bernstein, he will keep fighting for his freedom, but most of all, his name. When he is released, he will be labled a child molester. Justice? How can Douglas County D.A. David McDade and Prosecutor Eddie Barker sleep at night knowing that they put a 17 yr old kid behind bars for a "crime" that all teenagers experience. Did I mention that this kid was a star athlete at his high school, a scholar-athlete with a 3.2 gpa? Not only that, but his senior year he was receiving letters from universities such as Columbia, Brown, Elon, & the Citadel, to name a few. Our Justice system is way off course here, and until somebody does something to fix it, we will have men like Barker and McDade abusing their civil powers to try and advance themselves.......all because of a blowjob.

Well this is my first blog ever, and to tell you the truth, I'm not really sure if I'm into this whole "blog" thing. I don't know how many people will check this out and I guess I don't really care. I'm a student at a university in Florida, majoring in Economics.....trying to survive college and life. Not college-life, but finding the perfect balance between both. I'd actually prefer not talking about myself, so I guess this blog session is done.
